If you’re wanting to straighten your teeth but don’t want to wear chunky metal braces, we have good news for you. Invisalign is a modern, teeth straightening system. It uses advanced 3D computer imaging technology to map out a treatment plan that consists of a series of clear braces (aligners) designed to perfectly fit the size, shape, and contours of your teeth.

Invisalign aligners work by gradually moving your teeth into a final desired position. Because they are clear, they are popular with Gold Coast locals who don’t want the obvious display of ‘braces’.

Each Invisalign aligner is designed to be worn for around 2-weeks before it is replaced with the next one in the series. The thermoplastic that Invisalign aligners are made from will not irritate your gums as they straighten your teeth.

Benefits of Invisalign

  • Invisalign aligners are less painful to wear than traditional metal braces
  • As the name suggested, Invisalign is clear, allowing you to wear braces that are barely noticeable
  • Aligners are customised to fit your mouth and teeth perfectly and comfortably
  • Go about your professional work or attend social occasions with confidence
  • Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners are removable, making eating and teeth cleaning easy and helping you to maintain good oral hygiene

Invisalign Compared to Braces

Whilst braces and Invisalign are both used to straighten a person’s teeth, Invisalign’s clear aligners are much more inconspicuous compared to metal or ceramic braces. Braces are bonded to the outside of your teeth with thin metal wire used to apply pressure to teeth and gradually guide them into place, whereas Invisalign uses clear aligners moulded especially for your teeth to achieve the same result. In some cases, Invisalign might not be suitable for complex dental issues however for most people, Invisalign is a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing option. Invisalign FAQs

Invisalign is suitable for teenagers through to adults. Generally Invisalign isn’t recommended for young children as their teeth arrangement can change rapidly making it difficult to accurately use Invisalign.

The average treatment length for Invisalign is between 12 – 18 months, however this will vary depending on the current alignment of your teeth. Our cosmetic dentists will be able to give you a more accurate estimate during your free consultation as to how long it will take for your Invisalign to achieve your desired smile.

Most patients report only very mild discomfort when wearing their aligners and wouldn’t call it ‘painful’.

Some private health funds may cover part of the Invisalign treatment costs, however this depends on your type of cover. If you’re unsure, our reception staff can provide you with the Invisalign treatment numbers so you can check if you’re covered.

Whilst it is possible to correct an overbite via Invisalign, this ultimately depends on the severity of the overbite and whether it is a dental or skeletal issue. Our cosmetic dentists will be able to advise if it’s possible to treat your overbite during a free initial consultation.

It is recommended that you address any dental decay before proceeding with Invisalign to ensure your teeth are at their strongest.

We recommend waiting until after alignment is completed before undergoing any teeth whitening treatments. Your final alignment may reveal previously concealed areas of your teeth which could be missed by whitening agents if done prematurely.

It is possible to only have what’s known as a single arch treatment, however this will depend on the positioning of your teeth when you bite down. We’ll be able to advise if you’re suitable for a single arch Invisalign treatment during your free initial consultation.

No. Your Invisalign aligners must be removed before heading out to your favourite Gold Coast restaurant.
